The living myth of the Kurfürstendamm

The world-famous Kurfürstendamm boulevard is the undisputed number one place for shopping and business in Berlin. Along approximately 3.5 km, the boulevard offers an excellent mix of luxury boutiques, department stores and flagship stores of international brands.

Successful ensemble

The imposing existing building was erected around 1894 by the architect Franz Schwechten and was called “Erstes Romanisches Haus”. After remodelling work in 1924 according to plans by Max Bremer and Ernst Lessing, films were screened until 1998 on the 1st to 3rd floors in the neo-baroque “Gloria Palast” cinema hall, from which the building takes its name. In 2015, the building regained its glamour from the golden twenties.

The best of both worlds

Kahlfeldt Architekten are responsible for refurbishing the listed Gründerzeit building. The concept for the new construction was created by the architects Ortner & Ortner Baukunst.

Over a five-year development period, exquisite attention to detail and the use of the highest quality materials have given rise to a completely renovated, dignified heritage building and an impressive new construction at the heart of the big city.
