Viennese
marvel

The house has a long history. The pediment of the old Trattnerhof, completed in 1776, bore the maxim of its owner, the court printer and bookseller, Johann Thomas Trattner, which read “Labore et favore” or “labour and favour” in English. The prestigious edifice was considered quite a marvel in its day. In 1910/1911, the old building was knocked down and replaced by a new twin-body structure. This new Trattnerhof upheld the high quality and architectural standard associated with its name.

Historically, the prominent address in the heart of Vienna’s inner city was home to celebrated historic figures, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Karoline Pichler, to name but two.
