Character
and Evolution

The office building at ABC-Strasse 47 is looking back on a long past. Built as a poorhouse in 1898/1899, it went on to become the seat of Hamburg’s social security authority. In the years 1991/92, the house with its impressive brick façade, now under heritage protection, was restructured into a state-of-the-art office building while also being thoroughly refurbished and modernised.

Today, the office building offers flexible and bespoke layout options on four above-ground floors for corporate tenants. The high ceilings and expansive wood-frame windows typical of such buildings create a loft ambience very much in style today.

Urban life with a hanseatic touch

ABC-Strasse counts among Hamburg’s oldest streets on record. It was first mentioned 1620, earlier than Gänsemarkt or the Jungfernstieg high street. The houses originally lining the street were designated alphabetically instead of being numbered, hence the name ABC-Strasse. Today, the street and its immediate vicinity provides virtually every urban amenity you would expect here: from corporate offices to creative media outfits, from coffee shops to pubs and fine dining restaurants, and from grocery stores to posh boutiques.
