Commitment to the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance
29. July 2025Generali Real Estate is an active member of the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance (NZAOA), an initiative launched by the United Nations in 2019 in which institutional investors commit to making their portfolios climate-neutral by 2050. The aim is to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5 °C .
Generali Real Estate is setting clear interim targets, particularly in the area of real estate investments: For the year 2025, directly managed real estate portfolios should be in line with the decarbonization pathways of the CRREM model. This means a concrete reduction in CO₂ intensity and a focus on a 1.5 °C-compatible emissions profile.
This clear commitment to climate neutrality is of course also reflected in the portfolio of premium properties. Through targeted investments in energy-efficient modernization, ESG-compliant building standards and sustainable operating strategies, existing properties are continuously optimized. New construction projects are consistently geared towards CRREM and EU taxonomy-compliant targets. Generali is thus making an active contribution to the decarbonization of the real estate sector in German-speaking countries – and at the same time securing the long-term value and future viability of its high-quality assets in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
